The FIRST Excellence Award (FEA) represents Transocean’s appreciation of employees who go above and beyond the ordinary. It recognizes those who demonstrate the company’s FIRST core values of financial discipline, integrity and honesty, respect, safety and technical leadership while generating extraordinary results.
In order to be selected as an award recipient, each nomination undergoes a strenuous review process, funneling through three levels of review to the Executive Nomination Review Committee. The members of the Nomination Review Committee devote many hours and effort to ensuring the integrity of the nomination review and approval process to ensure the final award recipients are truly reflective of FIRST. The most recent Nomination Review Committee members included: Darrel Pelley (2009 FEA recipient); Janelle Daniel (2010 FEA recipient); Steven Myers; Jess Richards; David Keddington; John Boone; Mike Wright and Shane Livergood.
The newest winners join the more than 200 past recipients, a group that exemplifies the company’s FIRST core values. The 27 individuals, three teams and four installations 2013 achievements were recognized in Houston at the 15th Annual FIRST Excellence Award ceremony.
The committee said there was a higher number of compelling, inspiring nominations than in previous years and wanted to make sure everyone who was deserving of the honor was recognized. As a result, there were more awards than ever in 2014.
The year’s theme – Transocean’s 15 – was inspired by the film, Ocean’s Eleven, in that the FIRST Excellence Award is very difficult to obtain. What does it take?
Meet the 2014 recipients and find out. This special issue of Beacon reflects our people, rigs and overall organization at the time the award was given out.
