Transocean’s Houston offices began an energetic United Way campaign early this year, showing just how important giving back to the community is.
“The United Way is an opportunity for us as a company to contribute and help the community,” said John Truschinger, Senior Vice President, Support Services and Chief Information Officer.
The United Way is a leadership and support organization whose mission is to “improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities around the world to advance the common good.” Donations from the United Way of Greater Houston help children, seniors, and families rebuild their lives to have a better chance at success and financial stability.
This year’s campaign was kicked off with a Super Bowl party at the Renaissance Hotel in Greenway Plaza, where employees gathered for fun, food, games and their chance to win the Super Bowl package grand prize. Lisa Disbrow, Senior Technical Writer, won the package and took her friend, Jay, to Super Bowl XLVII in New Orleans, Louisiana.

"It was a magical atmosphere, each of us have our own Super Bowl in life where we reach a destination or accomplish a goal, and it was a treasure to be part of such a historical moment for these two teams” said Lisa. “It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience and game. Even the power outage that will forever christen this game as the Blackout Bowl was a fun time for all crowd members!” Lisa, who used to live an hour from New Orleans, was very appreciative of the opportunity to attend the American football game.
