Dear co-workers,

There’s no doubt, you have started the year well at Transocean.  As of mid-April, we’ve set a new world water-depth drilling record, celebrated the naming ceremony of two newbuild high-specification jackups and advanced our construction and crewing efforts for our newbuild ultra-deepwater drillships and premium jackups.  It is a testament to your quality work that our customers continue to recognize your performance and commitment to safety.

It is evident that our company vision remains the focal point of our work. The Sedco 712 reactivation project featured on page 9 is a great example of Transocean people working towards our vision; we were selected by the customer, partnered with Talisman Sinopec and the UK government to foster a strong future and are planning to execute operations in an incident-free workplace. The Asia Pacific Australasia feature on page 20 shows the productivity of our fleet and our onshore and offshore support, while highlighting our exceptional training opportunities.

It’s also important to recognize the time we take to give back and make a difference in the community. At Transocean, we are fortunate enough to have opportunities to make a difference, like the United Way campaign held in Houston, Texas, featured on page 28 or the numerous charities that our offshore personnel support through their local fundraisers.

Following the sale of the 38 shallow water rigs to Shelf Drilling, we are also making progress on our Shore-base Reorganizational Lift, or “SRL.”  This extensive effort will ensure that the company responds to the changes in size and composition of our rig fleet by realigning the structure of our global operations and support functions.  We are still in the early stages of this initiative but are committed to keeping you informed of its progress and you should expect periodic updates from me and others involved in the project.

I believe our unique culture makes Transocean a rewarding place to work, while our execution on goals and our ability to capitalize on opportunities makes Transocean an exceptional place to work. At the end of the day, though, it is your unmatched passion and commitment to overcoming challenges that continues to make Transocean an industry leader.

Thank you for all you do and let’s use our great start as a springboard for an even better 2013.
