GSF Grand Banks Hockey Team wins Canada Charity Tournament

The GSF Grand Banks crew organized a hockey team to play in a Canadian charity hockey tournament benefiting the Wade Duggan Memorial Fund, and wound up winning first place, as overall tournament champions.

The annual Wade Duggan Memorial Tournament began in 2011 for fellow workers in the Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Oil Industry. Wade, who worked for another company in the Canadian oil industry, passed away in 2009 in a helicopter crash. The purpose of the tournament is to celebrate his life, love of hockey and to bring together workers from the offshore for an honorable cause. The money raised from the annual tournament helps sponsor minor league hockey players.

The champion Grand Banks team was comprised of Transocean employees along with Weatherford, Cameron and other third parties. Representing Transocean, were: Jason Piercey, Motor Operator; Fraser Walker, Barge Supervisor; Jason Powel, Driller; and Sheldon O’Driscoll, Subsea Supervisor.
