The prestigious Petroleum Federation of India (PetroFed) has recognized Transocean as the “Best Drilling Services Company in India,” for significant contributions to E&P activities in India during the nation’s fiscal year 2011-2012. Transocean operated 10 mobile offshore drilling rigs in India during that period (three drillships, one semisubmersible rig and six jackups).
The PetroFed award citation states that it “honors Transocean for their leading performance in various services, drilling and development efficiency and productivity, quality management and reliability while meeting the norms of occupational health, safety and environmental protection.”
On behalf of the Transocean India team, Ranajit Chakraverti, Transocean’s Key Accounts Director, received the award from India’s Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dr. M. Veerappa Moily.
“This is the first time Transocean India has received this award for our performance,” said Ranajit. “This honor is especially meaningful as it recognizes the range and extent of our activities, including our diversity, scope, technical innovation and environmental concern. It also takes into account our social responsibility, health, safety and efficiency.”
Transocean and other PetroFed award winners were selected through a rigorous process of collation by PriceWaterhouseCoopers with the evaluation by the Awards Committee led by Dr. Prodipto Ghosh, Distinguished Fellow, TERI, and former Secretary to the Government of India. The selections were made by an eminent group, called a “jury,” headed by the former Chief Justice of India, Honorable Mr. Justice M. N. Venkatachaliah. Other members of the Jury are: Dr. Anil Kakodkar, Chairman, National Solar Energy Corporation of India, and former Chairman, Atomic Energy Commission; and Shri Naresh Narad, former Chairman, Public Enterprises Selection Board and Secretary to the Government of India.
