GSF Baltic

Folarin Oye, Rig Safety and Training Coordinator

The crew of the GSF Baltic had an outstanding year in 2010 and was thrilled their hard work was recognized with the FIRST Excellence Award. Among the accomplishments for the year—all wells were completed ahead of schedule and under budget with an impressive uptime of 99.22%. The rig continued to show numerous improvements in all areas and won Most Improved Rig on the European division scorecard from the end of 2009 to the end of 2010. And last but not least, the rig marked five years without a Lost-Time Incident.

“We have built a strong relationship with our service partners, both Transocean’s and ExxonMobil’s,” said Rig Manager-Performance Colin Craig. “We have service partners who have been with the rig a long time and don’t want to leave because they are part of our team. When you talk to the occasional service partner it is apparent that the Baltic is their preferred rig to work on.”

There is a very strong development culture aboard the Baltic. Crewmembers are encouraged to reach their potential and are fully committed to teamwork in accomplishing goals. “It starts from the head management,” said GSF Baltic Rig Safety and Training Coordinator Folarin Oye. “Everyone is ready to contribute. We have very good leadership. Our leaders do not simply delegate, they fully participate. When working together, everyone achieves more as a team.”

From this point, the GSF Baltic hopes to only go upward. The rig hopes to maintain its successes and achieve more goals. “We should continue to encourage the team to keep doing what they are doing best. Thank you to our Rig Managers and OIMs for providing quality leadership for the rig personnel to follow.  Thank you also to our team for having the personal commitment to do the right thing and to work safely,” Folarin said.
