The GSF Rig 105 is an exceptionally safe and efficient unit. It is clear that the crewmembers live by a safety culture that is second to none. In January 2011, Rig 105 completed three years without a recordable incident. In addition, this summer will mark 20 years completed with zero Lost-Time Incidents (LTIs). Also in 2010, the rig achieved No Environmental Incidents and has had only 15 hours of downtime.  “We told our boss that he has our commitment to keep going like this, to reach the company expectations and try to exceed them,” said Mahmoud Farghaly, GSF Rig 105 Rig Safety and Training Coordinator.

Rig 105 has a developed and motivated crew, according to Salah Elmogy, Rig Manager - Performance and Ahmed Mahfouz, Rig Manager - Asset. “We had 10 promotions in 2010 from within the rig, two employees moved to the ART program, and one employee has moved to the Subsea Engineer fast track on a newbuild,” Salah said. “The honesty and integrity in dealing with our customer has been noted in Service Quality Appraisal ratings and customer meetings which is a major factor in the long-term relationship with our customer,” said Ahmed, noting that the rig has worked for Petrobel for 24 years.

The Rig 105 crewmembers have a high level of respect for each other and believe safety is the primary priority. “We use the Core Values in all of our operations. It is expected, so we do it,” said Sobhy Mohamed Kotb, a Toolpusher, who has been with the company for 29 years.

Sobhy and Mahmoud said it’s the company’s high expectations and first-class equipment combined with the dedication and determination of the crewmembers that have led to success on Rig 105.
