Director, Human Resources – Europe and Africa
Compassion, Leadership, and Integrity. Larry embodies all of these characteristics and many more. During the aftermath of the Macondo tragedy, these traits were demonstrated with professionalism and concern. He diligently worked day and night to make certain all those affected by the tragedy were cared for and that their needs were met. Larry made sure that the families had the most up to date information, constantly remaining in contact with them.
“Larry and a few select others had the unenviable task of helping the families of our lost colleagues through the hardest time of their lives. His compassion, sensitivity, and spirituality provided those families with comfort, support, and counsel. He was and remains a trusted confidant and advisor to some of these families,” said Keelan Adamson, Vice President, Engineering and Technical Support. “His actions during the crisis truly represented the best of what Transocean people can be, demonstrating a real commitment to the welfare of our employees and their families.”
Larry has been working in Human Resources for 30 years and with Transocean for nearly five. His vast experience and work ethic have proved to be solid again and again. His efforts have been noticed not only by winning this award, but more recently by being promoted to Director of Human Resources for the EAU Division in Paris. From this point forward, Larry hopes to continue to take part in the growing maturity of the Human Resources function across the globe.
Larry is thankful for his wife and the understanding and support that she has provided through the years. As a FIRST Excellence Award recipient, Larry considers the award as recognition for all of the hard work and dedication that the entire North America HR Team exhibits daily.
