Margarita Sariyeva

Visa Coordinator- Ashgabad, Turkmenistan

Margarita worked in Travel, Human Resources, and served as the Visa Coordinator. Margarita was the go-to expert on dealing with the frequently altering local immigration authorities and always managed to keep herself updated and informed of any procedural changes.

After the Trident 20 was given an extremely short notice that the rig would be making a move to Kazakhstan in 2010, there were many details regarding authorizing and permitting that needed to be ironed out. One of the major obstacles was acquiring the correct permissions and visas to allow personnel to work in Kazakhstan in a short period of time. This meant a lot of dedication, determination, and long hours for Margarita. She managed to process and issue 140 visas over a six-week period.

“Margarita showed a full commitment to always support and assist rig operations on visa and crew change management,” said Georges Layre, Rig Manager, Ravenna Office. “Never counting her time, Margarita worked overtime to have the crew ready to move to Kazakhstan, including spending the night at the Kazakhstan Embassy to be the first in line in the morning.”

Margarita felt that while working at Transocean, the Core Values came naturally to her. She never thought about it, just demonstrated it. Margarita really appreciated how the company recognized people’s efforts. “I can speak on behalf of all the Turkmenistan staff when I say Transocean provided very good training which gave us the opportunity to use our knowledge. It has made me stronger and able to meet any challenges in the future.”

[Editor’s Note: A few months after the FIRST Excellence Awards were celebrated, the Trident 20 was sold. We thank Margarita for her dedication during the six years she worked at Transocean.]
