The Transocean Searcher has many accomplishments to celebrate. The installation was named Rig of the Quarter twice, and won Rig of the Year in Europe and Africa Unit for 2010. Transocean Searcher has operated in an exceptionally safe manner and has not had a recordable incident since January 12, 2009.
“The job satisfaction is high on Searcher, and we have a good relationship with the customer and suppliers onshore and offshore,” said Rig Manager-Performance Pål Aimar Svensen. “Our best resources are the crew on Searcher, and we make this team with our service companies and customer. That has made us one of the best performing rigs. We believe in continuing improvement together. We are constantly looking for improvement opportunities that can provide a more efficient and safe operation for both Transocean and the customer.”
Kenneth Sandberg, Offshore Installation Manager, and Trygve Stalsett, Rig Manager-Asset at the time of the nomination, believe their rig has strong leadership and management. “Each crewmember improves every day and continues to look for innovation. They believe having open communication and receiving the best work each person has to offer is the key to success,” Kenneth said. “This award shows that we are doing the right thing by reaching our goals through teamwork while being in compliance with regulations and policies. This is a recognition that informs the guys on all levels, from the Roustabout to the OIM, how each one of the team contributes to the success,” Trygve added.
Ten years from now, the crewmembers of Transocean Searcher hope to still be working incident-free on the Norwegian Continental Shelf and maintaining its title of being one of Norway’s best performing rigs.
