Victor Henderson

Treasury and Accounting Manager, Corporate – Aberdeen

What was only supposed to be a one-week temporary position for Victor, turned into a 25-year career with Transocean. He started as a Treasury Clerk and has held various other Treasury and Accounting positions. Victor’s experience and determination have made him an expert in the financial domain.

In 2010, Victor pushed for the cleanup of Transocean’s inactive and redundant bank accounts. He coordinated the closure of more than 40 accounts. This led to reduced bank charges, reduced work and hours for staff, and other evident efficiencies in the department.

Victor believes in doing something right the first time. Taking time out to help train a colleague or assist entering data are a few of the little tasks Victor does not mind going out of his way to do, as long as it gets done accurately.

“His work ethic and in particular his willingness to set aside his own tasks to help others has been the source of unsolicited positive feedback,” said Europe and Africa Unit Director of Finance Garry Taylor. “The world would be a better place if more people conducted themselves with the same level of integrity and honesty as Victor Henderson. People would not seek Victor’s guidance if he was not a respected and trusted source of sound feedback. Getting to grips with intercompany relationships and processes is not straightforward, but Victor knows them inside-out and backwards.”

Being able to watch people learn and grow is one of Victor’s biggest personal accomplishments. “I enjoy being able to take students from university and watch them develop,” he said. “If they are taught something correctly and can hold on to it; it is a good feeling to have someone up and running.”
