Madame President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf visits with Liberian crewmembers.
Below: OIM Joey Davenport explains what happens in the forward driller’s position. Driller Aubrey Everett looks on.
Crew members of the Discoverer Spirit were honored with a visit from Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf on August 12. Other dignitaries included Chris Nyeri, President and CEO, National Oil Company of Liberia (NOCAL); Clemenceau Urey, NOCAL Chairman of Board; Linda Thomas-Greenfield, U.S. Ambassador to Liberia; and Bernie Sanger, Anadarko Country Manager.
Madame President spent some time with Liberian national crewmembers, and was very interested in what they were doing and how they were being treated on board. “Very clearly, our new colleagues were enthusiastic both about their new jobs and an opportunity to meet their president,” said OIM Joey Davenport.
And her parting words as she left the Discoverer Spirit – “Find something!” Joey responded, “Madame President, we shall do our utmost!”
