Warren Weaver
Transocean Manager of Regulatory Compliance Warren Weaver on November 10 received an Exemplary Service Award from the International Association of Drilling Contractors for outstanding contributions to the drilling industry and to IADC.
Recipients of the IADC Exemplary Service Award are chosen for repeatedly demonstrating their commitment to improving the drilling industry and advancing its safety, training, or technology, in the course of their career.
“You are indeed an individual that exemplifies these characteristics, and it will be my honor to present you with this award,” said IADC President A. Lee Hunt, Jr., in a letter to Warren.
Warren, a 36-year veteran of Transocean, began his career in 1973 as a Roustabout in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico and worked in various offshore positions for 20 years. Today, as Manager of Regulatory Compliance in the Marine Support department, Warren provides guidance for vessel certification, personnel licensing, and new or pending regulations to Transocean’s management for the company’s rig fleet. He also represents Transocean in regulatory matters involving the U.S. Coast Guard, Vanuatu, Marshall Islands, Liberia, Bahamas, Panama, American Bureau of Shipping, and Det Norske Veritas.
He’s an active member of the IADC, currently participating in the organization’s Mobile Offshore Drilling Unit (MODU) Code and International Labour Organization (ILO) work groups.
“We are proud to see Warren’s leadership in the offshore drilling industry being recognized by the IADC,” said Steven Newman, Transocean President. “With his deep knowledge and longtime service, he’s been a valuable asset to not just Transocean, but to the entire industry. Congratulations, Warren, for being selected to receive this honor.”
Warren received his award at a breakfast during IADC’s 2009 Annual General Meeting in Miami on November 10.
